American mezzo-soprano TAMARA GURA has been hailed as a "a true stage animal" Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, working her way into the "highest league of mezzo-sopranos". She is gaining international attention for her "velvet-toned mezzo" Opera, her "dazzling coloratura" Süddeutsche Zeitung and her "deeply emotional singing that made time stand still" Opernwelt.
Engagements have already taken the young singer to some of the most prestigious opera houses including the Hamburg State Opera, Oper Frankfurt, English National Opera London, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro dell’opera di Roma, Opernhaus Zürich, New National Theater Tokyo, Spoleto Festival, Salzburg Haus für Mozart, Amsterdam Festival, Karlsruhe Händel Festspiele, Munich Cuvillies Theater in roles such as Carmen, Isabella, Adalgisa, Ariodante, Orlofsky, Sesto, Orfeo, Cenerentola, Radamisto, Rosina, Pauline, Gymnasiast, and Hermia. In 2020, she joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera for their new production of „Agrippina“, covering the role of Nerone. In 2022-24 highlights include Hermia in a new production at Oper Frankfurt, Orlofsky at the Staatsoper Hamburg and at the New National Theater Tokyo, and Komponist at the Teatro Colon in Argentina.
